When was the last time you thought about redemption? It seems like we learn of it and then forget that a ransom was paid for us all. Galatians 3:13 says that "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us..."
Let's look at the word redeemed. A dictionary definition of the word "deemed" is - considered, judged, viewed as. So re-deemed could be seen as re-considered or re-judged. It also means to rescue from loss and to improve opportunity. God has re-judged us since Jesus paid the price or ransom for our sins. We are viewed by God as righteous, or in right standing, after we believe and say that Jesus is Lord.
What a sweet deal that is for us. It is such a huge amount of grace toward us that it's hard to comprehend. All we have to do is believe and say it and it happens! The price has been paid in full.
How often do we think on that? Not as much as we should. Maybe it would help us to stop trying to "earn" our way into heaven and just accept the grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus. Psalm 4:5 says- Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. To me, that says we should do everything we know is right and then trust the Lord for the outcome.
That's something that won't happen overnight. But if you will think about it every day, it will become a part of you, and it will improve your opportunity for the Word to work in your life.
